Telluride Snowkite School brings wind power to the snow.
All Telluride Snowkite School lessons are taught on Lizard Head Pass, on Colorado Highway 145 about 15 miles southwest of Telluride and about 10 miles north of Rico.
Lizard Head is a great spot to learn to snowkite because of the easy access and mild treeless terrain. The winds in the meadow on the south side of the pass are often 8 to 12 mph, an excellent wind speed to learn the sport.
Telluride Snowkite School uses Ozone Access and Manta foil kites as well as Cabrinha Switchblade and Crossbow Bow kites on high wind days. The Ozone foil kites that are use in most lessons require less wind to re-launch then an inflated kite and Ozone kites are less prone to tangling then other foil kites. This means that relaunching the kite is easer and the student gets a lot more time with the kite in the air
